Honorees
Scott and Jo-Ellen Treiber have made Oyster Bay their home for the last 34 years. They raised four sons, Thomas, William, Matthew and James in our community. The family enjoys an active lifestyle of skiing, golfing, fishing and hunting.
Scott and Jo-Ellen share a passion of giving back to the community. Scott is the Vice Chairman of the Episcopal Ministries of LI. Jo-Ellen served on the Christ Church Vestry and as President of the Learning Tree Nursery School. The family supports Family and Children’s Association, Christ Church in Oyster Bay and Ducks Unlimited.
They met at The Treiber Group’s Insurance Agency in 1983, a family-owned business that was formed in 1899. Today three of the four sons work in the insurance business with Matthew, a lawyer, working in NYC.
Special Tribute
Susan Peterson has a long and rich history with the Life Enrichment Center where she has served on the Board of Trustees since 1991, when it was called Doubleday Babcock Senior Center. Twenty-two years later, Susan took the helm as Board President for nine years, stepping down earlier this year.
Susan is President of A-1 Resumes, Inc., a resume preparation and career consulting firm, and Professor of Philosophy at Nassau Community College. She has also served as Public Speaking Professor, Robert’s Rules of Order Lecturer, Debate Coach, and event Chair of ten consecutive annual Day at the Races fundraisers at Belmont Park.
Susan’s legacy is born out of three decades of generous service to the community, where she is known for her leadership, collaboration and dedication to the welfare of seniors.
